In shrubby wetland at very base of wooded sandy slope (dune ridge), in light shade, soil is saturated muck with an admixture of sand. Associates: Carex lacustris (very common), Lilium michiganense(common), Prunus virginiana, Quercus palustris (4"dbh), Impatiens sp. (common), Ribes americanum, Pedicularis lanceolatus, Acer rubrum, Trillium cernuum (uncommon, Brodowicz 1265), Onoclea sensibilis, Smilax hispida, Hamamelis virginiana (frequent), Prunus serotina (2"dbh), Osmorhiza claytonii.

Very local & rare, 2 plants ca 30 cm apart, not observed elsewhere on the >200 acre porperty. This is an overwintered leaf; green when fresh. This plants were almost burried in oak leaves and hard to detect.
